DECORAH, Iowa – Scoreless for more than 99 minutes, Luther's Dani Meirick broke the tie in the first overtime as the Norse snuck past Simpson, 1-0 Saturday night.
Meirick's 10th goal of the season came off a rebound at the 99:16 mark, lifting the Norse (5-6-1, 2-1-1 IIAC) over the Storm (6-6, 2-2 IIAC).
Luther outshot Simpson 27-9, but needed extra time before coming away with the win.
Megan Petersen made a season-high 12 saves for the Storm, which put three of its nine shots on goal in the contest.
Hannah Wright made three saves for Luther.
Simpson returns to action Oct. 17 when it travels to Cedar Rapids for a meeting with Coe. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
