McChesney, Silva land on NWCA Scholar All-America Team

MANHEIM, Pa. -- Simpson College wrestling's Dylan McChesney and Robert Silva were named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-America Team, the organization announced Monday.

"In what has been a trying season for all, I'm excited to recognize these talented athletes who stayed the course in the classroom and continued their pursuit of excellence as they work toward their degrees," said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. "The NWCA and our Board of Directors remain committed to honoring outstanding academic performance and would like to thank the coaches, support staff, and administrators at these institutions for their commitment to their student-athletes."

McChesney had a stellar junior season after holding a 13-4 overall record. The Northglen, Colorado native finished the year with a fifth-place performance at the NWCA National Championships to capture All-America status. The 125-pounder is the first All-American since 2006 for the program. He also landed on the All-American Rivers Conference Team for the second year in a row.

Silva tallied a 5-8 record to close out his sophomore slate. The Edinburg, Texas native recorded two victories at the NWCA National Championships in the 157-pound division.

McChesney and Silva are the first to land on the NWCA Scholar All-America Team for the Storm since RJ Brown earned the honor at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
