Storm golf teams host Simpson Invitational on Wednesday

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Indianola Country Club will play host to the Simpson Invitational on Wednesday as the Storm men's and women's golf teams compete on their home course for the only time this fall.

Spectators are allowed to attend the match on Wednesday, but are expected to social distance and wear masks.

The one-day event will begin at 10 a.m. at the country club as 10 teams will visit, including Graceland University, Grand View University, Iowa Lakes Community College, Kirkwood Community College, Loras College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, North Central Missouri Community College, North Iowa Area Community College, Southwestern Community College and Waldorf University.

The women finished first at last year's Simpson Invitational with three golfers receiving top-10 finishes. The men ended fifth as 10 programs competed.

Last Saturday, the women's squad competed in the Buena Vista Invitational and had a ninth-place showing. Senior Emily Jansen paced the squad with a 92, which is the third time this year Jansen has led the team at an event. Senior Megan Crockett fired a 95 for her best score of her career for the Storm.

After a brief hiatus from competition, the Simpson men will hit the links for the second time this fall. The Storm competed at the Ryerson Fall Classic on Sept. 18-19 as senior Nathan Eaton carded a top-15 finish.

Both programs will compete in the Des Moines Area Community College Invitational on Monday, Oct. 5 at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny, Iowa.
