ST. PAUL - Simpson scored 43 points off 33 North Central turnovers and the Storm rolled to an 88-41 win at the Northwestern Tournament on Saturday.
Cathy Kain came off the bench for game-high 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting, leading a balanced attack for the Storm (1-2). Mindy Hutchcroft had 10 points, while Jamie Elbert, Amy Hamilton and Stacey Schutjer all had nine.
Kate Nielsen had six points and 10 rebounds and Elbert and Jeni Hegstrom had four steals a piece.
Simpson came out of the gates strong, racing to a 20-2 lead in the first six minutes. The Storm held a commanding 52-13 lead at halftime.
Jorie Grenell scored 11 points to lead the Cardinals (0-2), who are still in search of their first victory.
Simpson returns to action Friday, Nov. 26 when they travel to Storm Lake for the Buena Vista Classic. The Storm face UW-Stevens Point at 5:30 on Friday and Iowa Wesleyan at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
