Storm trio kicks off track season
MANKATO, Minn. - Three members of the Simpson men's track and field team opened the track season by competing at the Chuck Petersen Open, Saturday.
Max Cleveland, Clarke Latcham, and Ulysses Patterson all competed in the 60 meter hurdles event, which consisted of 16 runners across two heats. Cleveland and Patterson set personal bests in the event, with Cleveland taking fourth overall.
Cleveland ran a 8.28 to qualify for the finals in fourth position. Cleveland bettered his time in the finals by one-hundredth of a second, but his personal best of 8.27 was only 0.04 seconds off a podium spot.
Both Latcham and Patterson just missed qualifications to the finals, coming in at ninth and 10th positions, with the top eight making the finals. Latcham clocked a time of 9.23 to take ninth, while Patterson set a personal best of 9.36.
