Ordaz selected as A-R-C Offensive Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Ronaldo Ordaz's first career hat trick propelled him to winning the American Rivers Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Ordaz's hat trick cemented a vital conference victory over Dubuque on Saturday, with Simpson winning 4-0. The victory assured that Simpson would host at least one A-R-C Tournament match. The Storm can still earn a first-round bye, but could also finish in third or fourth depending on Tuesday night's results around the league.

Ordaz got the scoring started against Dubuque early, scoring within the first five minutes on a shot outside the box that caught the goalkeeper off-balance. Ordaz then punished the Spartans late, this time scoring twice inside the final five minutes to complete his hat trick. His first was a brilliant piece of individual skill after picking up a 50/50 ball, cutting inside his defender before smashing the ball low into the net. Ordaz capped off the afternoon with an easy tap-in finish after teammate Roderick Orellana-Lemus beat two defenders before squaring the ball to Ordaz.

Ordaz, currently the Storm's second leading goalscorer with six goals, picks up the first weekly conference honor of his career. Ordaz has also chipped in with three assists and ranks second on the team with 15 points.
