Dean tabbed Academic All-American for second time

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Ian Dean tallied his second career Academic All-America honor on Wednesday when the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the team of 2021 selections.

The senior defender from Johnston, Iowa becomes fourth men's soccer player in program history to earn multiple Academic All-American honors. Dean was named to the third team after the 2020 season and landed a spot on the second team this year.

Double majoring in mathematics and physics, Dean owns a 3.98 GPA. He has been named to the American Rivers Conference Academic Team four times, is a three-time academic all-district honoree, and was one of four men's soccer players around the league to be named to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.

Dean closed out his career at Simpson playing all 16 games and logging 1282 minutes on the pitch as a senior. After leading the Storm backline all season and helping the team to a second-place finish in conference standings, he was named to the All-American Rivers Conference First Team.
