Simpson drops match to league-leading Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Simpson College men's soccer was handed a 2-0 defeat to the top team in the American Rivers Conference as Dubuque moved to 5-0-0 in league play on Tuesday.

The Spartans (9-3-1, 5-0-0 A-R-C) increased its winning streak to six straight and have outscored their opponents 18-6 during that span.

After a scoreless first half, Dubuque broke the draw with the game-winner in the 59th minute on a penalty kick. The hosts tacked on an additional goal in the 90th.

The Storm (4-6-1, 2-2-0 A-R-C) ended with nine shot attempts while allowing the Spartans to take 11 in the conference clash. Junior Roderick Orellana-Lemus tallied four shots and had two on-goal.

Freshman William Kopp corralled five saves in goal for Simpson in his 11th start this fall. His counterpart, Christoffer Rastock, closed with three saves for the shutout.
