Wilson resigns as Simpson men’s soccer coach
INDIANOLA – After leading the Simpson men's soccer team for six seasons, Mike Wilson resigned from his post as head coach, Director of Athletics John Sirianni announced Monday.
The search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
"We appreciate Mike's service to the soccer program and to Simpson College," Sirianni said. "We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."
Wilson took over the program in 2005, compiling a record of 35-66-9. He led the Storm to Iowa Conference Tournament appearances five times and guided the team to the tournament semifinals twice. Simpson missed the conference tournament in 2010, going 5-12 and 2-6 in conference play.
Under Wilson, Simpson earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic award on two occasions (2008 and 2010) for accumulating a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
