Season-high four goals propel Storm over Bethel

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Four different players broke into the scoring column, Luke Aronow (Ankeny, Iowa) made eight saves and Simpson snapped a three-match losing streak with a 4-1 win against Bethel on Monday.

The Storm (3-4-0) managed only one goal in their previous three matches, but cut loose for a season-high Monday. The win gives the the team three home victories in four tries this season.

"I'm happy with our result," head coach Mike Wilson said. "We needed a positive result tonight and we got it. Any time you score four goals you're pleased with the effort."

Both teams showed a willingness to run early in the contest, but Simpson's attack proved more dangerous. Jeremy Reinert (Indianola, Iowa) got the Storm on the board in the eighth minute, then found Mark Lahart (Newton, Iowa) in the 30th minute for a 2-0 lead.

"I thought we possessed well tonight," Wilson said. "We could have played cleaner, but it was good to get back into the win column."

The Royals (2-5-0) pulled within a goal on Brent Neihart's goal in the 33rd minute, but reserve forward Chris Allen (Reinbeck, Iowa) restored the lead to two when he found the net off a deflection seven minutes before intermission. AJ George (Nevada, Iowa) added the fourth goal off a keeper deflection in the 64th minute.

Simpson opens Iowa Conference play Saturday when it hosts Dubuque at Buxton Stadium in a 3 p.m start.
