Cary, Yeutsy earn All-IIAC honors

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Simpson women's swimmers Kayla Cary and Brenna Yeutsy became the program's first All-Iowa Conference performers since 2010 after their showing at the 2017 Liberal Arts Championships, which concluded Feb. 11.

All-Iowa Conference honors are based on performances at the Liberal Arts Championships, as the IIAC does not sponsor an stand-alone conference championship. Swimmers must place in the top two of individual and relay events among conference contenders.

Cary qualified for the honor with a fifth-place finish in the 200 butterfly (second in the IIAC) with a time of 2:19.35. She also broke the school record for the race in the prelims with a time of 2:18.07. Yeutsy earned the all-conference honor with her sixth-place finish (second in the IIAC) in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.55.

The last time any Storm swimmers placed on the All-Iowa Conference team was during the 2009-2010 season. Lauren Frodyma, Keely Goshia, Becca Harris and Catherine Mayes earned All-IIAC honors for their second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
