Women's swimming in sixth place after day one of Pioneer Classic

GRINNELL, Iowa — The Storm women's swimming team relayed their way to a sixth-place start at the Pioneer Classic on Friday night.

The Storm currently have 62 points. Out of the 11 teams, Grinnell leads with 366.

The 400 medley relay team of Cheyenne Wiederholt, Haley Blum, Maren Hoferitza-Palermo, and Brenna Yeutsy placed seventh with a time of 4:23.20, which is the second-best time in school history.

The first event of the night, the 200 freestyle relay team of Cassie Bergman, Haley Blum, Maren Hoferitza-Palermo, and Brenna Yeutsy finished 11th in 1:48.89.

Yeutsy also finished sixth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:38.51. Wiederholt swam the first 500 freestyle race of her Simpson career, finishing in 14th with a time of 5:48.37. Bergman finished 28th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.65

The Pioneer Classic continues on Saturday.
