Cox named IIAC Defensive Player of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson women's soccer player Stephanie Cox earned Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 20.
A sophomore goalkeeper from Dubuque, Iowa, Cox made five saves and picked up a shutout in Simpson's 2-0 Iowa Conference win over Coe on Saturday, Oct. 19.
In her first season as a starter, Cox leads the Iowa Conference with 116 saves, tying Simpson's school record. She will likely set the school record when Simpson takes on Grinnell in non-conference action on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Cox and the Storm are 4-12-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the Iowa Conference and sewed up a spot in the conference tournament with Saturday's win over Coe.
