DES MOINES, Iowa – Carlan Samuelson scored a goal and assisted on two more as AIB beat the Simpson women's soccer team 3-0 on Thursday.
Samuelson assisted on the first two goals – the first by Jessica Caballos and the second by Vanessa Barcelleiro – to give the Eagles (6-5) a 2-0 lead at the half. Her goal came in the 84th minute.
Decimated by injury and illness, the short-handed Storm (2-10-1) played with only 12 field players. Rachel Muse, Kate Morford and Amy Loverin all put shots on goal and goalkeeper Stephanie Cox made a career-high 11 saves.
Simpson looks for its first Iowa Conference win of the season when it hosts Buena Vista on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m.
