Women's soccer falls to Waldorf in final minutes

FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Simpson women's soccer team suffered a second-straight, one-goal loss to start the season with a 1-0 setback against Waldorf on Saturday.

The game appeared to be heading to extra time before Airenne Curry found the back of the net on a header in the 88th minute.

The Storm (0-2) came out of the gates sluggish, attempting just one shot in the first 45 minutes. The intensity changed in the second half, as Simpson took seven shots, six of which were on goal.

Stephanie Cox made six saves and Heather Adolph put two of her three shots on goal for Simpson. Madisen Haines and Kelsey Heintz assisted on the lone goal of the game for the Warriors (2-0).

Simpson is off until next Saturday, Sept. 7 when it travels to Concordia, Minn. for the first day of the Cobber Invitational. Simpson takes on Augustana (Ill.) on Saturday and closes the weekend against St. Scholastica on Sunday. Both games begin at 2 p.m.
