Luther outguns women's soccer

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Ellie Bunz scored two goals and Luther beat the Simpson women's soccer team 6-2 on Saturday.

Melisse Chasse scored the third and eventual game-winning goal in the 36th minute for the Iowa Conference-leading Norse (7-5, 4-0 Iowa Conference), who outshot Simpson 25-10.

Kate Morford  helped the Storm (3-12-1, 1-2-1) close the first half on a high-note when she gathered a rebound off a loose ball in the box for her third goal of the season.

Luther scored a pair of goals – the first by Bunz – in the first seven minutes of the second half to pull away for a 5-1 lead.

Amber Johnson scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season when Rachel Muse found her on a cross from four yards out in the 72nd minute.

Stephanie Cox finished with 11 saves between the posts for Simpson and Cydney Haaland had two for Luther.

Simpson is off for a week before hosting Coe on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.
