Storm suffer 1-0 setback at Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa — Jake Potratz made nine saves between the posts but the Simpson men's soccer team was shut out for the first time in 24 games, losing to Loras 1-0 on Sunday at the Rock Bowl.

The game was originally scheduled to be played Saturday but game officials pushed the contest back to Sunday due to the threat of severe weather in Eastern Iowa.

Javi Simon scored the lone goal of the game, converting on a counter attack in the 25th minute for the Duhawks (7-5, 3-2 Iowa Conference).

Potratz kept a clean net the rest of the way and the Storm (13-2-1, 4-2) narrowly missed a few dangerous opportunities.

Garrett Pochop rifled a shot on frame in the 35th minute, but Duhawk keeper Jacob Peterson made a leaping save. Tanner Alderson generated a chance in the 84th minute when he fired a shot off the right post from 10 yards out.
