Storm fall to Luther in overtime, suffer first loss

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Brunno Colon scored the game-winner in the 94th minute as Luther beat the Simpson men's soccer team 2-1 on a cold, wet Tuesday evening at Buxton Stadium.

Colon was serving a ball to teammate Ben Keller from the 30 yards out on the left wing, but Keller missed the header attempt. Anticipating the header, Simpson keeper Jake Potratz was unable to reach the bouncing ball before it crossed the goal line.

Colon — who took a game-high 10 shots on the night — assisted on the first goal for the Norse (7-4-2, 3-1 Iowa Conference), who handed Simpson its first loss of the season.

Garrett Pochop scored the lone goal for the Storm (13-1-1, 4-1) off a penalty kick in the first half. The result of a Luther handball in the box, Pochop connected for his 14th goal of the season.

Simpson led 1-0 until Tyler Pieper headed in Colon's corner kick in the 86th minute to force extra time.

Luther played the final 25-plus minutes without head coach Chris Garcia-Prats, who was ejected after receiving his second yellow card in the 68th minute.
