Storm top Bethel 4-1, improve to 7-0

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — Four different players contributed a goal as the Simpson men's soccer team improved to 7-0 for the first time in school history with a 4-1 win over Bethel on Wednesday evening.

Simpson led the entire match after first half goals by Colin Robinson and Tanner Alderson and insurance goals in the second by Garrett Pochop and Connor Robson as the Storm (7-0) enter Iowa Conference play with an unblemished record.

Robinson's goal in the 20th minute gave him his second goal and Nick Joslyn his third assist of the season all while putting the Storm on the board early 1-0. Shortly after, Alderson — the reigning IIAC Offensive Player of the Week — found the back of the net in the 26th minute to move the score to 2-0.

Ryan Petersen put the Royals (3-5-1) on the board off a set piece with the help of Andrew Hintz just thirty seconds before the half, making it a one-goal game.

Two unassisted goals sealed the win for the Storm in the second half. Pochop made it 3-1 in the 60th minute and Robson scored in the 73rd, giving Simpson four goals for the third time in the last four games.

Coach Speak
"Everything we've done to this point has been in preparation for the conference season. We've generated some momentum during the non-conference portion of our schedule, now it's time to see how we stack up against IIAC competition." — head coach Rick Isaacson
