Pochop named IIAC Player of the Week for second time
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Simpson's Garrett Pochop earned Iowa Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Oct. 29, the league office announced earlier this week.
A senior from Pierre, S.D., Pochop scored three goals in two games to earn the honor for the second time this season and fifth time in his career. The reigning conference MVP scored his 17th goal of the season, tops in the league.
Pochop scored one goal in the Storm's 6-0 win over Coe to close the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 24. He came up big with two goals in the Storm's 3-1 win over Wartburg in the first round of the IIAC Tournament, played Saturday, Oct. 28.
Pochop now has five postseason goals over the past two seasons and 12 multi-goal games throughout his career.
Pochop and the third-seeded Storm look to continue their remarkable season with a win at second-seeded Loras in the IIAC Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 1 in Dubuque.
