Howard Payne comes back for 6-5 win over Simpson

TUCSON, Ariz. – Ben Butler drove in the winning run in the top of the eighth inning to lead Howard Payne to a 6-5 win over the Simpson baseball team on Saturday.
Butler – who finished 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs – scored Sam Dollahit on a single off Jose Rodriguez to give the Yellow Jackets (11-6) a 6-3 lead.
Tyler Craig's RBI triple scored Tyler Crandell and a single by Blake Heitmeier scored Craig in the bottom of the eighth to make the score 6-5, but Simpson went down in order in the ninth.
Craig finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Storm (2-2), who led 3-0 after the first thanks to a two-RBI single by Craig.
Simpson led 3-1 after six before Butler's two-RBI double sparked a three-run seventh for Howard Payne.
Aaron Young (0-2) took the loss as Simpson sent nine pitchers to the mound. Gilbert Barr went five innings and struck out 10 in the win and Carlton Brow threw the final 1 2/3 innings for the save.
