2012-13 Storm Top 10: No. 10

The countdown begins with a tie at the 10th spot between the men's soccer team's 1-0 win over Wartburg in the IIAC Tournament and the baseball team's miraculous comeback to beat Luther, 12-11 after trailing by seven runs.

On the pitch, Marcus Varnum scored the game-winner in the 69th minute as the fifth-seeded Storm knocked off the fourth-seeded Knights 1-0 in the first round of the IIAC Tournament. The win helped Simpson snap an 11-game winless streak against Wartburg and served as the high point of 13-8-1 campaign, the program's best record in 10 years.

The baseball team's mid-April series against Luther looked as though it would end in a wash. After sweeping the first two games of the series, Simpson lost Sunday's first game and trailed 7-0 through an inning and half in the series finale. But a monster effort from Tyler Craig and some timely hitting down the stretch helped the Storm erase the seven-run deficit and come back to win a 12-11 thriller to take the series, 3-1. Craig finished 3-for-5 with five RBIs and two home runs, the second of which provided the winning run in the seventh.
