Stratton named NWCA Scholar All-American

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson junior wrestler Cory Stratton earned Scholar All-American honors for the 2011-12 season by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).

Stratton, a 165-pounder from Grimes, Iowa, went 20-13 for the Storm during the season. His best finish of the year came at the Coe Invitational, where he placed second in the 149-pound weight class.

An elementary education major, Stratton maintains a 3.551 cumulative grade-point average. He was also a member of the Iowa Conference's All-Academic team.

To be eligible for selection, a wrestler must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and meet one of three criteria: qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships, place in the NCAA qualifying tournament or win more than 66 percent of his matches.
