Simpson falls to Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Simpson wrestling team dropped a 30-9 decison to Loras in Iowa Conference action on Wednesday night.

Seven of the nine contended duals ended in decisions, with Loras coming out on top in four.

"There were several close matches in the dual even though the score doesn't reflect that," head coach Clint Manny said. "The matches were all close and we had opportunities to win others but didn't execute and got out of position."

Jeff Sand posted a 6-2 win over Sean Raddatz at 141 pounds, Brian Haynes won 4-3 over Chris Gansen at 157 and heavyweight Tony Saucedo beat Kyle Henry 3-0 for the Storm (4-7, 0-3 Iowa Conference).

"Overall I thought we gave a good effort, but we just didnt wrestle a full seven minutes in a few matches," Manny said. "If we can limit our mistakes and continue to fight every match this team will continue to see improvement."

Simpson travels to Whitewater, Wis. for the Border Brawl Duals this Saturday. The Storm will face UW-Whitewater, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point and Olivet.
