Storm fall to No. 20 Luther

DECORAH, Iowa - The Simpson wrestling team fell to No. 20 Luther 37-10 on Wednesday night.

Freshman 157-pounder Brian Hanyes (Gladstone, Mo.) and sophomore 184-pounder Taylor Witzel (Aurelia, Iowa) picked up wins for the Storm (0-2, 0-2 Iowa Conference).

Haynes earned a 9-1 major decision over Eric Moreno and Witzell won by injury default over Matt Fassbinder. Witzell led 2-0 when Fassbinder left the match.

The Norse (1-0, 1-0) picked up four major decisions and three pins in the match.

The Storm return to action Saturday when they host the Simpson Invitational at Cowles Fieldhouse. Wrestling begins at 9 a.m.
