Men’s golf completes season at league championships

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Simpson College men's golf squad concluded its season at the American Rivers Conference Championships on Friday. The Storm finished the two-day event with a 54-hole total of 1,071 to place ninth.

Luther was crowned the 2022 men's golf champions with a team score of 902. The Norse claimed the top-three individual placings led by A-R-C Golfer of the Year Ben Phipps who carded a 221 (+8). With the team win, Luther earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships taking place in Florida from May 10-13.

Central placed second with a score of 923 followed by Nebraska Wesleyan (924) in third, Dubuque (928) in fourth, and Loras (932) in fifth.

The Storm were led by Grady Haynes whose performance was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the second day of the Championships. Haynes tied for 37th overall with a score of 250 at the conclusion of four rounds.
