Simpson ends weekend at Klocke Family Classic

MARION, Iowa -- The Simpson College men's and women's golf teams wrapped up the two-day Klocke Family Classic on Sunday, hosted by Mount Mercy University.

While playing at Hunters Ridge Golf Course, the Storm women finished fifth, while the men opened their fall slate in 15th.

Freshman Madeline Streicher posted a two-day sum of 171 to finish sixth with her second straight top-10 performance. Streicher carded an 84 on day one for a new season best.

Sophomore Sydney Stephenson tied for 20th after trimming four strokes off her day one score to collect a 90 this afternoon. Freshman Taylor Elam ended 29th and sophomore Hannah Mulligan capped off her weekend by taking 28 strokes off her card from yesterday.

For the men, sophomore Isaac Roe ended in a tie for 54th by finishing the second day with a 75 for a new career low. Senior Lucas Hemphill and sophomore Brendan Bayeur ended second and third for Simpson, respectively. Freshmen Grady Haynes and Nick Campbell rounded out the golfers for the Storm, while junior Carson Crile competed as an individual.

Both squads are back in action this Wednesday in the DMACC Invitational. Action will take place at the Ames Country Club.
