Simpson finishes seventh in Iowa Wesleyan Classic

MADISON, Iowa -- Freshman Madeline Streicher collected her second medalist honor in the last week to lead Simpson College men's and women's golf at the Iowa Wesleyan Classic on Tuesday.

Streicher shot a season-low 76 to pace the 32-member field. She shot four strokes lower than the runner-up to help the Storm end third. Streicher is the first women's golfer to card two first-place marks in a season since Jennifer Gaffney accomplished the feat during the 2012-13 campaign.

Freshman Taylor Elam shot a 93 and senior Averi Peck was just behind her in a tie for 15th with a 94. Sophomore Sydney Stephenson sat inside the top 20 with a 96 and classmate Hannah Mulligan rounded out the team in 30th.

For the men, junior Grady Haynes fired an 80 to tie in 14th as the team ended seventh overall. Senior Lucas Hemphill and sophomore Brendan Bayeur both had an 84, while sophomore Isaac Roe was nearby with an 85.

Junior Carson Crile tallied a 91 while freshman Nick Campbell shot an 82 as an individual for the Storm.
