Storm men compete in home invitational

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Freshman Madeline Streicher shot a 77 to earn medalist honors as the Simpson College men's and women's golf teams hosted its own invitational at the Indianola Country Club on Wednesday.

The women ended second with a team score of 354 and the men finished seventh with a 331.

Streicher shot five strokes lower than the runner-up to capture the Storm's first medalist accolade since Hannah Gordon secured the feat Sept. 16, 2018.

Sophomore Sydney Stephenson shot an 86 to place seventh with a career low. Freshman Taylor Elam was just outside the top 10 to tie for 11th with a 92.

Sophomore Isaac Roe guided the men with a 77 to tie seventh with four strokes behind the medalist. Sophomore Brendan Bayeur fired an 82, while juniors Carson Crile and Grady Haynes each shot an 84.

The Simpson women travel to Lincoln, Nebraska this weekend for the Prairie Wolves Invitational, hosted at Mahoney Golf Course. The men compete in the Iowa Wesleyan Classic on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course in Fort Madison, Iowa.
