Williams earns third all-tournament team recognition of the year

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Freshman Emily Williams picked up her third collegiate All-Tournament Team recognition at the conclusion of the WashU Invitational this weekend.

Williams amassed 43 kills, 34 digs, three blocks and two aces across three matches. The Malvern, Iowa native recorded two double-doubles, including one against No. 12 Washington (Mo.) with 14 kills and 13 digs. She had nine kills and seven digs against No. 2 Wis.-Oshkosh and rounded out the tournament with 14 digs and a season-high 20 kills against DePauw.

Earlier in the week, Williams played a pivotal role in the Storm picking up a 3-2 home victory over Central. She had a season-high 19 digs as well as 17 kills, knocking down five consecutive in the fifth set to propel the Storm to a 16-14 win after they trailed 7-2 early. She currently ranks 12th in the American Rivers Conference in kills per set (2.49) and points per set (2.89).

Simpson will play a pair of matches on back-to-back days this week, beginning with a road game at Buena Vista on Wednesday night. The Storm will then host Grinnell for Senior Night on Thursday.
