Volleyball caps week with five-set, comeback win over DePauw

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – After challenging a pair of top 12 teams, the Simpson College women's volleyball team completed a five-set comeback over DePauw to end the weekend on a high note.

The Storm (7-17) were down 2-0 in the match with the Tigers (10-10) before battling back into it with 25-14 and 25-22 wins in sets three and four. Simpson went on a late 6-1 run in the fifth to claim a 14-11 lead, but DePauw took advantage of a couple of Storm miscues to tie things up at 14-all. An attack error by the Tigers followed by Lauren Roman's eighth kill of the match completed the Storm's comeback victory, their second five-set win of the week.

On Friday night, Simpson went up against the undefeated and No. 2-ranked Titans from Wis.-Oshkosh (23-0). Emily Williams knocked down nine kills, but the Storm were defeated 25-7, 25-17 and 25-16. Simpson took on another nationally-ranked team on Saturday morning, but came up short as No. 12 Washington-St. Louis (16-6) won 25-19, 25-12 and 25-19. Williams led the Storm once again, recording her third double-double of the year with 14 kills and 13 digs.
