Storm track and field teams earn academic honor for 11th straight year

INDIANOLA, Iowa - For the 11th straight season, the Simpson men's and women's track and field teams earned All-Academic Team honors, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Storm posted the highest cumulative GPA in the Iowa Conference on both the men's and women's side, one of just three programs in the IIAC to feature both teams on the All-Academic list. The men achieved a 3.32 GPA, their highest since first making the list in 2005-06. The women posted a 3.52 GPA, tied for 26th in all of Division III.

The Storm have earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors in each of head coach Dave Cleveland's 11 seasons, dating back to 2005-06. The women also took home the honor in 2002-03.

Luther and Wartburg joined Simpson as IIAC representatives on the men's side while Central, Coe, Dubuque, Loras, Luther and Wartburg all qualified on the women's side. The league's newest member, Nebraska Wesleyan, also had both its men's and women's teams represented.

In order to be considered for All-Academic Team honors, a team must have at least a 3.10 cumulative GPA. In all, 112 men's teams and 175 women's teams made the grade in 2015-16.
