Distance, field events lead women's track and field at Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa - The 4x200-meter relay team turned in a second-place effort to lead the Simpson women's track and field team at Grinnell's Darren Young Classic on Saturday.

The quartet of Elizabeth Burgus, MacKenzie James, Keeghan Corcoran and Audrey LoVan ran 1:54.74 in the 4x200, behind the winning squad from Buena Vista.

Simpson placed eighth of 10 teams, scoring 15 team points.

Other Highlights

• Sarah Galbraith had a solid day in the field events, placing fifth in the long jump (15-11 3/4), 12th in the high jump (4-10 1/4) and 19th in the 60-meter hurdles (10.53).
• Courtney Neuendorf ran a career-best 5:27.99 to place sixth in the mile.
• Sadie Timms ran a career-best 11:00.31 to place ninth in the 3,000 meters.
