Kovaleski finishes runner-up at Luther Hill Invite

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Riley Kovaleski led the Simpson College men's wrestling team at the Luther Hill Invitational with a second place finish in the 157-pound bracket.

Kovaleski went 3-1 overall, earning three decisions before falling short in the title match. The sophomore defeated Christian Keller from Nebraska Wesleyan 10-4 before edging Noah Aken (Southeast CC) and Juan Lopez (Graceland) by one point, 8-7 and 9-8. He suffered a first-period pin by Nebraska Wesleyan's Travis Guzman in the finals.

Along with Kovaleski, Shane Mathias and Kanin Hable were also placewinners for the Storm. Mathias took fourth place in 197 pounds, while Hable finished fifth in the 125-pound bracket behind a pair of first-period falls.
