Gordon earns second place at A-R-C Championship

AMES, Iowa -- Hannah Gordon carded a career-low 71 on the final day of the American Rivers Conference Championship to finish in second place to receive All-Conference honors for the second year in a row on Monday.

As a team, the Storm finished in sixth with a rounds of 357-361-349-1067. Dubuque won the team title with a tally of 985 and Luther's Morgan Kranz received medalist honors shooting six strokes better than Gordon.

Gordon's 71 is now a program best at the conference championship as she was the only golfer to finish under par on the last day at Ames Golf & Country Club. Gordon earned the best all-conference result for a Simpson golfer since Jennifer Gafney finished as the medalist in 2012. Gordon had a three-day total of 238.

Madison Hance improved on the final day and trimmed six strokes off yesterday's total with a 90 to finish tied for 26th at 282. Haley Booton and Emily Jansen followed Hance and both carded a three-day sum of 282 to tie for 26th. Kelsey Poppe fired an 87 to finish just behind her teammates with a 283 in 29th.

Notes
• Gordon's 71 is one stroke lower than Gafney's 72 she hit in 2012 to set the previous best mark at a league championship.
• Gordon is the first Storm golfer to repeat as an all-conference performer since Gafney had a three-peat from 2011-13.
