Storm women place first at Simpson Invite

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Storm women's golf team placed first at the Simpson Invitational on Wednesday afternoon with a team scorecard of 338 at Indianola Country Club.

Out of 41 golfers at the event, all of the Simpson women's team placed within the top 15. For the second outing in a row, Hannah Gordon earned second-place overall. Gordon shot a 74 on the day, beating her previously best round of 80 as a member of the Storm.

Senior Kelsey Poppe also clipped her Simpson career best on Wednesday. Poppe sliced two off of her lowest score (90) with an 88 to finish ninth. Madison Hance was steller for the Storm today and shot an 84 to end in seventh.

Madison Hance, Emily Jansen and Haley Booton competed for the Storm as well. Hanson Jansen finished tied for twelfth, while Booton ended one stroke behind her tied for fourteenth.

The women's golf team will be back in action Oct. 4 for the first day of the American Rivers Conference Championships at Ames Country Club.
