Trio tabbed to WGCA All-American Scholar Team

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Simpson women's golfers Hannah Gordon, Madison Hance and Kelsey Poppe have been named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Golf Team for their impressive work inside the classroom during the 2018-19 campaign.

This is Hance's third time receiving the honor, Gordon's second and is Poppe's first.

To be selected for the honor, a golfer must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50. In total, 1,097 women's collegiate golfers were recognized from across all divisions for this prestigious honor.

Hannah Gordon
• A rising senior from Pleasantville, Iowa
• Majoring in exercise science 
• Named to the Academic All-A-R-C squad
• Finished in sixth place at A-R-C Championships for All-Conference honors
• First Simpson All-Conference golfer since 2013
• Posted a team-best 83.3 average, which clipped two strokes off her season average from a year ago

 

Madison Hance
• Rising senior from Creston, Iowa
• Majoring in graphic design
• Earns the WGCA All-American Scholar honor for the third straight year
• Named to the Academic All-A-R-C squad
• Fired an average of 91.8 in nine rounds during the season
• Shot a season-low 88 in the second round at the BVU Invite on Sept. 22, 2018

 

Kelsey Poppe
• Rising senior from Ionia, Iowa
• Majoring in business management and psychology with a minor in human resource management
• Named to the Academic All-A-R-C team
• Had a season average of 96.9 for the Storm in seven rounds
• Tallied a season-low 90 in the opening round at the BVU Invite of Sept. 21, 2018
