Jansen’s career day leads Storm at Buena Vista
STORM LAKE, Iowa -- Emily Jansen carded a team-low 82 to lead the Simpson women's golf team on the first day of the Buena Vista Invitational on Friday at Lake Creek Country Club.
The Storm shot 369 as a team, good for a tie for fifth place with host Buena Vista. Grand View leads the team standings with a 324.
Jansen turned in the best round of her young career, lowering her previous best by two strokes. With her 82, Jansen is in fifth place, nine stroke behind the pace set by Karli Kerrigan of Grand View.
Kelsa Berkland and Kelsey Poppe each carded 90s to tie for 14th while Lydia Martin shot a 92 to tie for 17th. Haley Booton, Madison Hance and Megan Crockett rounded out the Storm's finishers on the first day.
Play concludes from the par 71, 5,549-yard layout at Lake Creek Country Club on Saturday.
