Martin, Gordon tied for lead after first round
WINONA, Minn. -- Lydia Martin and Hannah Gordon each fired an 82 to tie for the lead after the first round of the Saint Mary's Invitational from The Bridges on Saturday.
The Storm are in second place in the field of six teams after shooting 355, one stroke off the pace set by leader Macalester. Simpson has a 20-stroke cushion on third-place Wis.-La Crosse.
Martin and Gordon share the lead in the field of 35 players. The duo holds a two-stroke lead on La Crosse's Natali Fellows with 18 holes to play.
Competing as an individual, Kelsey Poppe carded a 92 to tie for 12th. Madison Hance is three strokes back in a tie for 18th and Haley Booton shot a 96 to tie for 20th. Emily Jansen, Kelsa Berkland and Megan Crockett rounded out the Storm's lienup.
The tournament concludes Sunday.
