Storm in 12th after first round at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Hannah Gordon carded a team-low 81 and the Simpson women's golf team is in 12th place after the first round of the Wartburg Fall Invitational from Prairie Links Golf Course on Saturday.

Simpson shot 348 as a team in the first round, eight strokes behind Luther and eight in front of Wis.-River Falls. Carleton (300) leads the team race by seven strokes over Grinnell.

Gordon was one stroke off her low round of the season and is tied for 31st in the field of 96 golfers. Kelsa Berkland is tied for 53rd after shooting an 86 in the opening round and Lydia Martin is tied for 59th after registering an 89.

Madison Hance (92, t-70th) and Emily Jansen (93, 75th) round out the top five for the Storm.

The tournament concludes Sunday from Prairie Links.
