The senior point guard had 11 points and 10 assists in Friday's win over Iowa Wesleyan. She committed just one turnover in 51 minutes of play.

"She deserved the MVP," head coach Brian Niemuth said. "She can do so many things. She can score from 3, she can penetrate, she can pull up. She gives us our energy."

Whitney Van Wyk had 13 points and went 3-for-5 from beyond the arch, earning a spot on the all-tournament team. Mackenzie Haupt also finished with 13 points while Britney Boland and Katie Ahrenholtz added 12 apiece for the well-balanced Storm.

"Everyone who played stepped up today," Niemuth said.

Maddie Westergard had a game-high 22 points for the Vikings (4-4), who went winless after a loss to Buena Vista on Friday.

For the second night in a row, the second quarter provided the separation. After outscoring Iowa Wesleyan 19-3 in the second 10 minutes Friday, Simpson outscored Grand View 27-16 on Saturday. A 3 by Morgan Mauro sparked a 12-0 run to open up an 18-point lead.

It was over when ... Van Wyk hit back-to-back 3s to break an 8-8 tie in the first quarter. Simpson led the rest of the way, building a 27-point lead in the third quarter.

Key numbers: Simpson enjoyed its most efficient offensive performance of the season, setting season-highs with 84 points, shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 50 percent from the 3-point line. Simpson's 13 turnovers are a season-low.
