Women's basketball sets school record in rout

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Simpson women's basketball team posted the widest margin of victory in school history in a dominating 107-26 win over Mount Mary (Wis.) in the season opener at the UW-La Crosse/HolidayInn Express Tip-Off Classic on Saturday.

All 15 players in uniform scored a point as the Storm (1-0) won by 81 points, topping the previous record of 80 set on Feb. 5, 2005 when Simpson beat Cornell 107-27.

The 107 points scored by Simpson are the most since 2010 as the Storm controlled the game from the outset, scoring the first 29 points. Simpson led 62-10 at halftime.

Rachel Kaale led a well-balanced offensive attack with 14 points, going 7 of 8 from the field. Morgan Mauro had 11 points on 3 of 4 shooting from beyond the arch and Maddie Muhlenbruck came off the bench to score 12.

Ashley Dalsing and Maddie Bosworth handed out six assists apiece and Katie Ahrenholtz led the team with six rebounds.

Jasmine Meyer scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Blue Angels (0-1).
