Lindenman in fifth, Storm third after first round at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa - Trent Lindenman fired a 77 and the Simpson men's golf team sits in third place of 11 teams after the first round of the Wartburg Spring Invitational.

Simpson shot 319 as a team, 12 back of front-running Kirkwood and six behind second-place Nebraska Wesleyan.

Lindenman is tied for fifth in the individual race after shooting 39 on the front nine and 38 on the back of the par-72, 6,614-yard layout at Centennial Oaks Golf Club. Very much in the running for medalist honors, Lindenman is just three strokes behind Eddie Doyle (Kirkwood) with 18 holes to play.

Andy Hutchins (80, t-11), Shaan Desai (81, t-15), Nick Hartman (81, t-15) and Nathan Molstead (83, t-23) round out Simpson's varsity finishers.

The tournament concludes Saturday.
