Another solid effort helps men's golf to fifth at William Penn

OSKALOOSA, Iowa - Andy Hutchins had his best tournament of the fall season as the Simpson men's golf team placed fifth of 16 teams at the William Penn Invitational at Edmundson Golf Course on Friday and Saturday.

Simpson turned in a pair of sub-300 rounds on the weekend, shooting 299 on Friday and 297 on Saturday to finish at 596, 10 strokes behind Ashford and seven ahead of Northwestern (Iowa).

Central won the team competition with a two-round total of 565. William Penn placed second (578) and Grand View came in third (580).

Hutchins tied a season-low with a 71 on Friday, only to set a new low on Saturday with a 70 for a two-round 141. He was just two shots off the pace set by tournament medalist Frederik Lundsgaard (William Penn) who shot 139 (72-67).

Trent Lindenman carded a 72 on Friday and a 74 on Saturday to tie for 11th with 146.

Nathan Molstead (76-74-150) tied for 21st, Nick Hartman (80-79-159) tied for 57th and Jimmy Siebert (81-83-164) tied for 70th to round out Simpson's lineup.
