Trio recognized on All-Conference Football Team

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Simpson College football team had three student-athletes land on the All-American Rivers Conference Football Team led by offensive lineman Mason Spree who was selected to the First Team by the league's head coaches. Defensive lineman Jack Bootsmiller and linebacker Wyatt Schaben were recognized on the honorable mention team.

This is Spree's second time being named to the First Team and Bootsmiller's second-career honorable mention recognition. Schaben picked up his first all-conference nod with the Storm.

Mason Spree | First Team, Offensive Line

  • Senior from Waverly, Iowa
  • Earned his second career first-team recognition
  • Protected a trio of quarterbacks that combined for the fourth-most passing yards in the conference
  • Helped Simpson gain 935 yards on the ground
  • Scored a touchdown in his final career game for Simpson

Jack Bootsmiller | Honorable Mention, Defensive Line

  • Senior from Mount Vernon, Iowa
  • Earned his second-career honorable mention recognition
  • Registered 29 tackles and had five tackles for loss for 15 yards
  • Had three sacks to tie for 18th in the league and recovered one fumble

Wyatt Schaben | Honorable Mention, Linebacker

  • Junior from Harlan, Iowa
  • Led the team and conference with 106 tackles
  • Had nine or more tackles in all but two games
  • Registered 11.5 tackles for loss to rank fifth in the A-R-C and posted four sacks
  • Forced two fumbles, recovered one, and broke up one pass
