Storm unable to slow Beavers on Homecoming

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Brandon Kyles threw for 242 yards and three scores, Jeremy Woodward rushed for 115, and the Buena Vista Beavers spoiled the Storm's homecoming with a 50-19 win inside Buxton Stadium.

The league's top receiver Eric Pacheco hauled in all three of the reigning A-R-C Offensive Player of the Week's touchdown throws as Buena Vista (4-3, 3-2 A-R-C) scored early and amassed 514 yards of total offense to hand the Storm (1-7, 1-5 A-R-C) the loss on their home turf.

After being held without a score in the opening frame, Simpson cut into the visitor's lead with a Hunter Ogle touchdown from four yards out. The scoring drive was set up two plays prior when Jerrell Carter Jr. forced a fumble that was recovered by Wyatt Schaben at the Buena Vista 38-yard line. Brett Bobinet then found Hunter Dahlgren for a 34-yard completion to put the home team in scoring territory.

Ogle struck again on the Storm's next possession, this time from one-yard out to bring the score to 34-13 in favor of the Beavers. Bobinet had completions of 16, 17, and 19 yards to fuel the 87-yard scoring drive. Buena Vista added a field goal to its scoring column to set the score at 37-13 at the break.

Simpson's lone score of the second half came midway through the third quarter. As part of a drive that started on the Beaver's 20-yard line, Desmond Alexander rushed seven times for 37 yards and Bobinet connected with Dahlgren and Cole Romdall before securing the score with a two-yard keeper.

Bobinet finished the day with 155 yards passing, Alexander (45) and Ogle (40) shared the bulk of rushing duties, and Austin Bell (58) and Dahlgren (57) were nearly equal on receiving yards to lead the Simpson offense.

On the other side of the ball, Schaben tallied a season-high 16 tackles, including two for loss, and collected his first fumble recovery of the season. Carter Paterson filled his stat line with eight tackles, one sack and a tackle-for-loss, while Zach Truitt hauled in his second interception of the year to go with seven takedowns.
