Simpson falls to top-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor

BELTON, Texas -- The Simpson College football team faced the top team in NCAA Division III football in Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday and the Crusaders made their case for the honor with an 84-6 win.

The Storm's (0-1) lone score came off the arm of senior Seth Howard on a 26-yard pass play to junior Reed Worth in the third quarter. Howard finished with 11 completions for 155 yards, while Reed served as his top target with five receptions for 83 yards.

Senior Joe McNally hauled in two catches for 34 yards with a long of 20 and sophomore Mason Little tied a team-high 26-yard reception for his only catch of the day.

Senior Lanny Herzog led the defense with 13 tackles, while freshman Zach Truitt and junior Wyatt Schaben both had six.

The Crusaders (1-0) ended with 601 yards of offense, including 330 on the ground. Ten of the team's scores came on foot for an American Southwest Conference record.
