Joseph takes third at York Open

YORK, Neb. – Jenna Joseph recorded four pins and a technical fall en route to a third place finish at the York Open, leading the Simpson College women's wrestling team in its first competition of 2023.

Joseph (170) dropped her opening match but bounced back in dominant fashion, winning her remaining five matches via fall or technical fall. She registered three consecutive pins in 2:02, 2:52 and 2:38 before blanking Taylor Rickley of Hastings 10-0 to earn a spot in the third-place match. Joseph finished the day with her 10th pin of the season against Central Methodist's Shainne Whited in 1:56.

Kylie Rae Torres (109) recorded the first pin of her collegiate career over Colorado Mesa's Isabella Richards. Torres captured the fall in 1:48 but fell in her next match, placing fourth overall.
