Women’s wrestling opens inaugural season at home

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Jenna Joseph placed third to lead the inaugural Simpson College women's wrestling team in its debut at the Luther Hill Invitational.

Joseph went 4-1 at 170 pounds, recording three pins and a technical fall. Her first pin of the day over Kaylah Johnson of William Penn went down as the first victory in program history. She posted another pin before falling to the back side of the bracket with a 9-2 loss. Joseph got back in the win column with a 10-0 technical fall and won her third-place match with a pin in 4:11 over Toyia Griffin (William Penn).

Three other women picked up wins for the Storm at their home tournament including Kari German, Kyla Pattillo and Kyla Revels. German pinned Madelyn Plotz from Iowa Western in her very first match at Simpson, while Revels also started the day 1-0 with a 3-0 decision over Iowa Wesleyan's Grace Gray. Pattillo's victory was a 12-2 technical fall in the consolation semifinals against Grand View's Laura Kipnusu.
