
Storm wrap up season at conference meet in Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Simpson College women's swimming and diving team hit the pool for its final competition of the year this weekend at the A-R-C Championships.
Highlighting the weekend for the Storm was the 800 freestyle relay team of Katelyn Smith, Maude Steinbeck, Eryn Harris, and Kate Minette, which garnered all-conference honors with a third place finish in the finals. Simpson clocked a time of 8:50.48 to finish behind Nebraska Wesleyan and Luther.
The Storm finished fifth as a team with 127 points.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Kate Minette placed highly in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle competitions. In the 50 and 100, Minette placed sixth, while in the 200, she took home fifth place.
- Breanna Hinson qualified for the finals in both the 50 and 100 freestyles, placing 12th in both. Hinson also raced in the 100 butterfly finals, taking home eighth place.
- Katelyn Smith qualified for finals in two races, the 100 and 200 breaststroke, where she took 12th place in each event.
- Maude Steinbeck was able to qualify herself for the 100 breaststroke, competing to an 11th place finish in her event.
- Freshman Eryn Harris qualified for the finals of the 100 butterfly and took 12th place.
